Dr. Amy Fulton Scanlan is the owner of North Bay Veterinary Dentistry, a practice that she feels is the culmination of her life experiences and one that reflects her passion for being an advocate for enabling pets to have the best health possible.
From the time she was a little girl growing up in Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia, Dr. Fulton’s dream was to become a veterinarian. Throughout her undergraduate and veterinary-school education at Cornell University, she knew that she wanted to provide the very highest standard of care for the pets in her practice. During her internship at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, she realized that her desire to practice the best medicine and provide a voice for pets who might be suffering in silence would be best served by specializing in dentistry and oral surgery. She completed her three-year residency program in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery at UC Davis in 2013, and became a board-certified Veterinary Dentist ™ in 2014. She has been practicing high-level veterinary dentistry and anesthesia in the Bay Area for the past 8 years.
Dr. Fulton started North Bay Veterinary Dentistry in 2022, bringing her love of animals, her expertise in anesthesia and oral medicine, and her surgical and medical skills to her hometown of Petaluma. What she loves most about dentistry is helping pets who might not have previously received treatment (due to high anesthetic risk or other factors) and seeing them come back feeling better than ever. When not at the practice, she may be donating her time to help animals at the Oakland or San Francisco Zoos, spending time with her husband and two boys in our beautiful town, snuggling her three cats Melisande de Catmont (a Maine coon), Belly and Bruno (domestic mutt felines), or painting pictures only her family would hang up.

Ashley Vallejo, a Santa Rosa native, is the chief registered veterinary technician at North Bay Veterinary Dentistry and has been instrumental in its creation and operations. She has had a passion for animals since she was a young girl, but she realized she wanted to make a career out of helping to nurse animals when she received her first dog, Shiloh, as a high-school graduation gift. Shiloh, a cockapoo, was Ashley’s first fur baby and her heart dog. She kept her constant company as she worked toward her RVT license, which she received in 2012. During that time she also worked as a kennel assistant, client services representative, veterinary assistant, and technician to various veterinary specialties including emergency, critical care, internal medicine, surgery and dermatology. Her well-rounded background makes her an excellent nurse and advocate for her patients and clients.
Ashley worked for 10 years in specialty dentistry and anesthesia in the Bay Area before joining North Bay Veterinary Dentistry. She is excited about bringing her high-level anesthesia monitoring skills and nursing techniques to Petaluma, where she has previously lived and worked. She works with Dr. Fulton when they donate their time and skills to zoo organizations. When not at the practice, she can be found at home with her husband, two sweet girls, and her fur babies (Shirley Rose, Golden Retriever mix, and Sheamus, Cockapoo).
